Here’s a post for those of you
following the Bible Training Center in Mikelle, Tigray, Ethiopia:
I got an email this morning from the
hosting service for the website we created for Harvest in Ethiopia three years
ago letting me know that the renewal was coming due in February. So much has happened since we began the
process of opening the first evangelical training center in Northern Ethiopia
in 2014. It’s been an incredible, first-hand,
faith building experience for me, my family and all of you that have supported
the development of the school.
The building that the school calls
home is fully funded. We raised $260K in
a just couple of years through private donations. That alone was a miracle. We’re in an excellent location in the city,
there is room to add onto the structure, we have business tenants paying rent
on the first floor to help offset ongoing operational expenses – we have a lot for
which to be thankful.
Six weeks ago, week
we had a pastor's conference for all of the Evangelical pastors in the State of
Tigray at the Bible School. There were over 40 in attendance. Dr.
John did most of the speaking with 11 sessions. Dr. John said, “I was
blessed and the Lord blessed all of the attendees.”
Currently, there are 2 classes in the third year program
working on their Bachelor Degrees. Another second year class is underway
working on their Diplomas. We hope to begin a new class for students in
the Certificate program very soon.
Dr. John and several of the teachers from the school are
traveling across Tigray this week to four separate cities conducting services, seminars
and assessing interest in satellite campuses.
Please keep Dr. John and his team in your prayers over the next
month. Pray for doors to be opened and
God’s plan for the people of Northern Ethiopia to be fulfilled.
While the building is fully funded, if you're interested in
contributing financially to the school, those funds will be used to begin
satellite schools in neighboring cities, books for the library and additional
furniture for the school. On another note,
if you know an American Pastor/Instructor that’s interested in teaching at the
school – even if it’s just a week – I’m happy to help line up a time for you to
do that.
I appreciate all
of the support, prayer and contributions that have made this school come to
life. It has been incredible to be part of God’s plan for building the kingdom
in Northern Ethiopia.
